The Big Mortgage Payoff

The Amazing Human Condition.

So I just got done watching a 3 hour marathon of shows on Discovery Channel, Food Network, and … something else. The main highlight was a series called “Human Body: Pushing the Limits”. A show on the Discovery Channel detailing how our bodies have developed and advanced themselves to take on amazing feats when needed and survive some of the most extreme situations and I got to thinking… here I am, sitting on 50 million years of evolutionary perfection. My body is capable of regulating itself to the point of being able to enter survival mode on a seconds notice, burning excess calories and fat if I should go without food. It will force me to sleep to repair itself. It can absorb shock, magnify its strength, and agility in dire situations. This body, my body, the vessel of my consciousness is the ultimate survival portal. This thing that I only have a limited amount of conscious control over really is the peak of perfection, one of nature’s greatest marvels.

Ramblings of the Broke

Over the next few days, it is my hope to be able to write some interesting content. That being said, we’ll start off with the easiest.

On the Economy:

I keep hearing about how the economy is slow and how gas prices are going up, up, up, and how we have to relinquish control of foreign oil here at home in the USA to help drive prices for gas back down. One line that keeps creeping up into the news is drilling in ANWAR and piping the gas down to the conventional USA. Read the rest of this entry »

My thoughts Exactly.

Is it any wonder, by todays standards, that this comic is not only hilarious because it’s based on truisms, but also horribly, horribly frightening? The kid in the comic could honestly be 17 years old, and it would still be true.  Click for original size.

UO + Real Life

Disclaimer: I started writing this about 2 weeks ago, and you can very easily where I stopped and didn’t pick it back up for a while. I had a point, but grew bored. =\

I’ve come to the conclusion that one of two things is going on in the world: either video games are mimicking life, or … more worrisome, life is mimicking video games. Let me explain. Read the rest of this entry »

Lol Scientology.

So I drove by an Anonymous Scientology boycott today, so I leaned out my window and yelled “THE INTERNET IS HERE!” - I was afforded cheers by the folks in “V” masks. Today is epic win.

Spoiled Rotten Babies.

I used to think SRB Syndrome was largely confined to the USA and its (pre)teen inhabitants. Kids raised in a digital age of internet instant gratification and parents who either just don’t know how to cope with technology or don’t care. Generation “NOW NOW NOW” seems to be budding into maturity, and watch out if they don’t get their way. A hissy fit is coming!

Big Oil

It’s depressing when you’re trying to run to the pump the second the news hits to fill up your tank before the gas stations catch wind of the price rising. It seems that for every dollar a barrel of oil shoots up, a gallon of gas goes up 10 cents. Right now in AZ, we’re paying around $3.20 a gallon (which is about 1/4 of 1 Euro right now. :P ) … and I hear California is up around $4.

It’s affecting everything too. Because of the mass increase of price, food has shot up a ridiculous amount as well. Moving it from one place to another is only half the reason. A lot of the corn and wheat supply is now going to ethanol production. Which in turn raises the cost of Feed for livestock, which makes the price of meat go way up IN ADDITION to the price of transportation. Read the rest of this entry »

One for the road.

Yet another bit of writing I did a while back for an idea I had for a book. The Characters were to be derived from others I had played or had played with via some form of MMORPG or other. I always had been facinated with creating character backgrounds for games I’ve played that leaves it wide open for that, something I started on with both D&D and Ultima Online. I’ve since re-read this one and realize what a mess it is, and have since abandoned this particular idea, but not the characters. Read the rest of this entry »

The Trix Rabbit gets his revenge

Another short story I wrote, this one dating about 2002, or around about there. It’s pretty deranged, and it’s got absolutely nothing to do with my state of mind back then, but I did have a lot of fun writing this one. It’s a little immature going over and re-reading it, but I was young and didn’t really know a whole lot about writing. Not that I do now, mind you, but its all fun and games until someone gets shot in the head with a nail gun. (oooh, cryptic foreshadowing!)

The Regality Dance

This (incredibly) short story was written in response to a contest being held by a band I enjoy immensely: Elvenking. Based on a song off their first album, Heathenreel, called “The Regality Dance”, I don’t really have a title for this particular story. I had a great time writing this one, was able to imagine the scene vividly, and pulled more influence from The Forgotten Relams’ stories involving Eilistraee and the surface drow, who I have become enamoured with through books written by amazing authors. Without further ado here:
